The Forth Power

ASH's Book REVIEW
The Forth Power by Juan Gimenez
The Forth Power is about an interplanitary war between earth and the Planet Alpha Nebula and its inhabitants. The war itself has lasted roughly over a century and is rearing its end as the inhabitants of Alpha Nebula (the Krommiuns) are nearing the completion of their Secret weapon, the QB4. Unfortunatly like all great plans for interplanitary domination, things go wrong, and things have indeed gone wrong.
The story revolves around 1 of the 4 women kidnappped for the developement of the QB4 experiment, namely Exether Mega. At the beginning of the book it's pretty much kidnapping, futuristic dog fights, hard core action, and a political view to help fuel the story. Later on when the character known as Doctor Khen comes into play do we find out what the plot is all about.
There really isn't a focus on character at all, your more or less just thrown into the action. As I said not much really is known until we meet Dr Khen. But overall the book is very good. Both story wise and Art wise. Especially art wise. the look of the book is very gorgeous. all the pages are beautifully rendered with paint and ink. and help portary the other worldly atmosphere. (which is a must for a sci fi book). It also has a dull cold grey look which gives it that cold war feel.
As for story; what you have here is a very Black Hawk Down style of story telling with a twist of an Akira end of the world theme added for flavour. The story is great and it has one hell of an ending. I don't want to brag about it because it would spoil you. The only down side about this book is the fact that it is too short. The story just moves too quickly.
But overall It is an amazing book and is worth having a read through.
A well deserved 8/10 |
