Ultra: Seven Days
Review by Tara, 09/02

Ultra: Seven Days
Author/Art: The Luna brothers
Publisher: Image Comics

Basically the comic follows Pearl Penalosa through a week in her life as a superhero. Pearl is a work-a-holic super-heroine who really needs to get a life or a boyfriend. She is told by a crack-junkie (who is also a fortune teller) that she will find true love in the next seven days and decides not to dismiss the information. The story is really entertaining, full of super-heroine bitchy-ness and witty dialogue. Think Sex in the City (except better) with superheroes and that should give you an idea about Ultra.
Ultra is Joshua and Jonathan Luna’s first comic and well worth giving a go. It is an 8-part mini-series (not an on going) and is available in trade paperback format. The girly-ness of the book shouldn’t put off guys, as it is a really good read and at very least Jonathan Luna draws some very attractive females. My favorite part is when Pearl throws a dildo at her ex-boyfriend (by accident of course). Yeah, um, it has adult content.
